The original language of the people of the Koyukuk and Middle Yukon River regions is Koyukon, an Athabascan language of the Na-Dene family.  Koyukon is spoken from Alatna (on the Upper Koyukuk River above the "Arcitic Circle"), to Nulato and Kaltag on the middle Yukon.
